My family member has a stroke and was taken by ambulance to Holy Family. He fortunately came out of the stroke cognizant and communicative. The attending doctor decided my family member had a problem swallowing and to prevent food and liquid from going down his airway, decided he needed a feeding tube inserted. The doctor did not describe the physical trauma and consequences of an inserted feeding tube. The family member decided against the procedure, but the doctor told him if he didn’t have the procedure, he’d be sent to a nursing home or rehab to die. The feeding tube was inserted. The day the tube was inserted, we visited his room. There were dirty linens on every chair, trash over flowing the garbage can, and items laying all over the counter tops. (See pics) He was transferr
I had emergency abdominal surgery. I was admitted , examined , and taken into surgery without delays and my surgeon explained what she was planning to do and possible changes in that plan. The alternate plan was necessary. The nursing staff was attentive and kept me as comfortable throughout my confinement. Everyone was professional and very pleasant. I could not have asked for more.
Absolutely awful. If you have a choice, go somewhere else. Anywhere else. I was placed on a 72 hour hold with presepsis/colitis. (No, I do not use drugs) When I arrived via ambulance I was placed in a wheelchair and sat in the waiting room until someone remembered to pull my file. I could not control my breathing, my arms and feet were numb and I remember literally wanting to die. Once I was seen I had to be sedated shortly after that I got sick and I was the only one that seemed alarmed that what I expelled was black. Thankfully I did have 1 doctor that seemed to care about her work. I was started on antibiotics and had a pretty quick turn around, though the brain fog lasted a couple weeks. Day 2, I was given a regrettable option to see GI for an endoscopy. I had no idea why I began vomit
Dr. McKenna in OB would get NO stars from me if he could. Made me feel completely unwelcomed and like an inconvenience to his day. I went into the emergency room because holy family is a block from my house. I am currently 36 weeks pregnant and started having some bleeding. This isn’t where my Dr is located but as a first time mom I was completely horrified and my first thought was getting to the closet hospital to make sure my baby was okay. Fast forward to them taking me up nurses couldn’t find baby’s heart beat at first so they called in Dr McKenna. First thing he tells me is I shouldn’t be seeing other doctors other than my own. He quickly did a quick ultra sound to find babies heart beat and was out, left nurses to do the rest. Everything ended up being fine and they sent me home. La
If I could give a 0 I really would. Came in on Thursday with my mother due to her being extremely lethargic and ill. The doctor came in and explained to my family that my mother had stage 4 lung cancer that traveled to her brain. The doctors did not offer steroids to help the swelling go down but they simply stated that there was nothing they could do tonight so they gave my mother headache and nausea medication and sent us home. They gave us no information on how to deal with this tragic news. After we got home my mother couldn’t speak, walk, or even comprehend anything. She has turned into a zombie. We ended up calling 911 and had our mother taken to sacred heart to get a second opinion. We also called the cancer care treatment unit and they told us the hospital should have not discharged
