Pierce County Alliance

The building at 510 Tacoma Ave S was built in 1909 as the C.C. Mellinger Co. Funeral Home. In 1945 a ceremonial chapel was added — with a striking spire‑style dome that really stands out. Today it’s home to Pierce County Alliance, a place of help and hope. The building still keeps its historic charm, and you can really sense how the past and present meet in its architecture.

The counselor that did my assessment was extremely welcoming and made me feel better about choosing to get myself into treatment. I was extremely disappointed to find out that the 3 hours I spent doing my assments was not valid unless a staff member watched me do the UA. I'm not in any trouble, my kids haven't been taken or anything. I don't know why my rights to who views my body not my choice if I want to get help getting off drugs. I took an hour bus ride and walked in the rain to get there. i decided to put the needle down for the first time in almost 10 years just to be turned away without compromise or consideration to me as a person.
