Penn Presbyterian Medical Center

On December 9th I was advised by my Mom’s PCP to take her to Penn Presbyterian Hospital ER for low sodium and swelling in her legs. Her first time at Penn Presbyterian was back in September for a serious fall that weekend that dislocated her right shoulder and then again with both while at home. It gave me much comfort the care and monitoring my Mom had while being a patient. The nurses are extremely empathetic and caring during this scary time. My mom is 86 years old. She was suffering in pain and they went above and beyond to focus on pain and keeping her calm. Most importantly for me as her caregiver they allowed me to sleep every night to be with her. On 12/4/2025, my mother was treated in the Emergency Department at Penn Presbyterian Hospital, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to Nurse Julia MacCarone for the outstanding care she provided. She was truly exceptional and went above and beyond in every way. Julia was not only professional and attentive, but also incredibly compassionate. She made sure my mother was comfortable, understood what was happening, and felt safe during a very stressful time. Her patience, kindness, and genuine concern for her patients stood out immediately. Wasn't a 5 star place, but the staff at the surgical unit for eye surgery was great. Very professional and caring. The only reason for the 3 stars was the cleanness of the wating area floor and bathroom. The wheel beds were pretty dirty under them, so I blame the janitorial staff. Those things should be SPOTLESS, considering they take patients there after having surgeries. But that aside, great doctors and nurses.

Lakeisha, (sp?)the receptionist in gastro is very kind and helpful. Jefferson kept banding my esophageal varices and they kept rupturing. Penn finally cauterized them and they haven’t ruptured since. Liz and Divea were the best doctors that I have ever had. Liz especially was absolutely exceptionally wonderful and truly cared about her patients. I absolutely adore her and am sad that she is no longer with Penn.

One of the most terrifying moments of my life handled by some of the most thoughtful and caring staff. The doctors and nurse staff were very attentive and seemed actually concerned for my well being. Not only were they thorough, they answered any and all questions I had during my stay. Far too many names to remember for the doctor team but I hope you all realize how well you treated me including my concerns of wanting to be discharged earlier because I felt so much better and those concerns were actually heard and worked with.
