Pediatrics at Oyster Point

Dr. Butcher is a highly recognized and award winning pediatrician in Newport News. He doesn’t do it alone and has a strong staff with other providers with amazing reputations. Dr. Butcher is known for being a caring physician and when I met him I could tell this. He makes his patients feel comfortable with a cozy office atmosphere and a soft voice. Each of his exam rooms are themed differently. Harry Potter, Sesame Street, Mr. Rodger’s and lots of Disney which is Dr. Butcher’s favorite place to vacation. I also got the chance to meet his wife Valerie who also works at the office. She was friendly, smiled and gave me a tour. When considering a pediatrician they are not all alike, choose wisely. I would recommend Pediatrics at Oyster Point.

We love POP! I’ve been taking my son since he was born and we’ve always felt so welcomed, heard, and cared for. From the friendly staff to the fun (and beautiful) wall art in every room, we happily drive from Norfolk for each appointment. They are prompt with a response whenever we call with questions or concerns and have gone out of their way to help me get copies of shot records for school registration. If you’re bringing a new baby into the world or new to the area and want doctors, nurses, and staff you can trust - call POP. You won’t be disappointed!

This review does not represent the practice in entirely, it is solely for Erin Smith, newer nurse practitioner with the practice. During our last encounter with her, she was unpleasant, abrupt, discourteous and continued to repeat the same statement, without listening to what I was asking. She then began to interrupt me when I started to speak, which led to her talking over me and not actively listening to what I was asking. She was rude and unprofessional during this encounter. I was shocked and honestly in disbelief that she became as impolite as she did. It was so bad that I made the choice to end the conversation and contact the office manager about this situation. Amazing staff, amazing service. I’ve been coming here since my first born was a few months old and I don’t regret my decision of choosing this office. Dr. Butcher is absolutely amazing. In the event I have to see another provider due to an emergency appointment, they’ve always been a pleasure as well. Anytime I need anything done they’re super quick and easy to work with. I honestly love this office and wouldn’t choose any other place to care for my kids.

My child gets the best care every time he comes here. Dr. Butcher and Morgan are the best and always takes care of him in the best way. From the first phone call (typically I talk to Charisma and we love her), to checking in (typically Chloe and we love her too), being seen, and checking out, everyone is always so nice and friendly. They really care about their patients and take very good care of them!
