Met with a Dr. Royal today, during an appointment for my mother. She was one of the most personable, knowledgeable people I've met throughout this journey with my mom that started a month ago. Just wanted to shout her out. Because wow, she was so kind and understanding and seemed to genuinely care about the goings on in my mother's every day life since her surgery. Dr. Haney was also amazing, the E.R. nurse Jaclyn and the PT Wound care specialist Simone was for sure a character of reputable stature. I've been impressed with most of the staff here at OU Med, but especially these in particular. Sometimes we only take time to mention the bad or the frustrating. Today I wanted to emphasize the good and above and beyond behaviors. Way to be GOOD HUMANS...It was noticed. 🥰

My brother's future wife has been here twice in the past 2 months and it takes them forever to do tests and receive results!!! This last time they released her she didn't have her medications but they didn't even give her a 2 or 3 day emergency supply!!! She had to drive over two hours to get them after a 4 to 5 day stay in the hospital and it took 2 days to get a regular room besides the emergency room. It was still small and really noisy from remodeling. I know places are short staffed and over crowded but believe they can still do better? By the way the valet employees are amazing though!!!

In Feb. of 2025 my son was involved in a car accident. He was carried to OU Medical Trauma. We were devastated because we didn’t know what to expect when we got there. All we knew is that it was bad he was not doing well at the time. To make a long story short is that the people there made our lives so much easier getting through this. We will never forget them. If you cannot speak, have a tracheostomy or a laryngectomy be cautious. Very few employees knowledgeable of these. Family must advocate for these patients. Make it clear that they cannot answer the nurse call button so a nurse must go to the room to see what they need or else the call will be ignored.

My mom was in the ICU for a few days and the care she received there was amazing. Her nurse CiCi was incredible. When she was moved to the 7th floor, it became a horrendous experience. The nurses on the 7th floor would rather be on their phones and stand around than tend to my mother who was waiting 45 minutes for them to come address the alarms that were going off. Despite her hitting the nurse call button, they never came. I had to go out and beg for a nurse to come in and look at the monitors and they made sure I knew it was an inconvenience to them having to look away from their phone. The staff in the ICU was amazing. After she was moved to the 7th floor, I now understand why this hospital has such a low rating on Google.
