Optum - Seal Beach Family Urgent Care

I had my PCP changed to Dr. Zia and had my first annual check up here. It was an easy process to make a phone call for my reservation and the receptionist was helpful. Dr. Zia is bilingual so for me it's more easier and comfortable to communicate and discuss everything with her. She ordered the blood test and I received my result with her opinion in 1 week which I think was very efficient. Overall, my experience here was great!

I went to another OptumCare facility in Los Alamitos and was directed to the sister facility because of the misunderstanding of appt time. I'm very pleased that they treated me like a number and couldn't find the time to quickly see me because if not, they wouldn't have referred me to their sister company in seal beach. The building was easy to find, parking wasn't crazy, the outside and inside is clean and tidy. I was greated as soon as I entered, and absolutely love the costumer service at this facility. They were completely different from the Los Alamitos location. Unlike the other location, I didn't have an appointment so I was a 'walk-in' at the The seal Beach facility. Called to confirm final time they take a patient at 4pm. They tell me 7:30. I walk in a 7:05 and I’m told they stop taking patients as a walk in and will only take by appointment and they’re full for the day. This comes after I canceled clients to make it there in time. They give me a list of referral places. I call a few and find one that doesn’t close until 11. Drive from seal beach to Lakewood only for them to tell me they don’t take my insurance. Unprofessional and inefficient. Not only did you guys waste my time, you made me lose income by not properly communicating changes due to being short staffed.

I visited today due to eye pain and a stye. I came to this clinic becuase my Mom usually visits and has a good experience. Today, I wasn't given a time frame for wait and sat in the lobby with about 3 other patients, all of whom had checked in before me. I was there for 2 hours and decided to leave. I get it, things happen, and maybe they are understaffed. But the poor communication I received from the receptionist before and after I told her I was leaving was enough to not come back. There wasn't an "I'm sorry for the inconvience" or anything. Just "Well there were people here before you." Granted, had I known the wait was 2 hours before sitting down, I would not have stayed. When I went for a primary care visit, I had no issues, but when my wife went to the urgent care for a UTI, they prescribed her medicine, and never sent it to the pharmacy. When we returned, they said that the doctor left and they wouldn't sent a prescription until she returned, which could be multiple days (doctors don't go to the same location every day). My wife is now in intense pain and we're going to have to go to a different urgent care to try to get help.
