Optum Pediatric Urgent Care - Wantagh

we have taken my daughter there a couple times after hours. we absolutely love them! we have never waited more than 10 minutes to see a doctor and they take the time to explain. we saw Dr Hamarsha last week and she was WONDERFUL.

The staff here is amazing and I cannot recommend this urgent care enough. I went at 8:30pm on a weekday and check in was easy and comforting. We were a walk in and did not wait long and my daughter was able to lay on my lap on the couches they had in the waiting room. After being called back, my daughter got sick on herself from top to bottom and multiple medical assistants ran in and cleaned her up while I was consoling her. They were so kind and encouraging and so gentle. Dr. Lacorte is the exact doctor you imagine working in pediatrics. He was immediately engaging with my daughter to break the toddler ice and incredibly patient with both of us. He was very thorough on his exam and he made us feel like a priority. I had a lot of questions and he took the time to hand write the answers to

The front desk staff were absolutely obnoxious—there’s unfortunately no other way to say it. I arrived with my daughter, who was extremely sick, and the gentleman at the desk was very rude over the phone and even worse in person. The woman sitting next to him was watching the Knicks game loudly and behaving in a way that was beyond unprofessional. Meanwhile, parents with sick children were trying to get assistance signing in through the Optum e-check-in system. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by asking for help. This was a very disappointing experience, especially in a setting where compassion and professionalism should be a priority. I strongly recommend reconsidering the front desk staffing.

The woman at the front desk is so amazing and patient. It’s Christmas week and a lot of kids are sick with the flu, but she kept a smile on her face and was so pleasant during a stressful time to visit a doctor’s office. They were quick and informative and the PA and medical assistant were also very pleasant. Thank you so much to this team!

We had such a great experience with Dr. Shahd Hamarsha at urgent care. She was kind, patient, and really enthusiastic. She explained everything clearly and never rushed us, and she answered all of our questions in detail. You can tell she cares about her patients and loves what she does. We're very thankful she was the one who saw us.
