Optum Heights Primary Care

I have been a patient here for 14 years. I never wrote a review but after seeing how badly reviewed this place was, I felt the need to chime in. I have been here for 3 different name changes and the medical staff was always fantastic. My problem was always that there was not a lot of help in the office. So people rarely followed up or reminded me of appointments. Since it has become Optum.. not the case at all. Someone from the office called me and I was busy and asked if they could call me back. They called me back the next day. Just now I called because of an issue with a prescription and Bea (not sure how it's spelled) called the Pharmacy on my behalf and fixed the issue. I was surprised by the negative reviews and verified that they pertained to the correct medical office. I have been a patient for over 15 years, beginning treatment with Dr. Renzi as far back as 2009. I am currently under the care of Pete Higgins and Dr. Girone, both physicians consistently exceed expectations in all aspects of medical practice. The facility offers a comfortable yet professional environment befitting a practice of this caliber. They also offer telehealth appointments, which is super convenient. They give great care in an all-around excellent medical establishment in every department.

It seems like there are a lot of negative reviews, but my experience has been the opposite. Dr Peter always takes excellent care of my husband and me. The office called to schedule our well visit last month and we seen in a timely manner. Today I called at 8:30 for sick visit for my son and they were able to see him this afternoon. I think the phone system has been changed as well for better service. To the person complaining about their refills why did you wait until you were totally out of them to request a refill? The doctor is not going to renew your prescription unless you go for your well visits.

I'm very disappointed with where this office has gone. As of recent, they seem to be nothing but money grabbers. My entire life (literally my entire life) I've been able to call and get refills when needed. Of course, scheduling an appointment every so often happened and was reasonable and understandable. Anymore they won't give me monthly refills, I have to call every month for multiple medications, and anymore than 1 refill (1 month) and they want to see you for an appointment so they can bill your insurance and get your copay. When the original Dr. Higgins ran this business, and even the generation after, they were reasonable and cooperative. I was at the Optum in Haddon Heights , Dr was great , 99% of the staff are wonderful BUT there is a staff worker at the front desk absolutely unprofessional and rude and should never be dealing with sick patients., she was taking care of something for me after I had seen the DR, told me to wait in the waiting room , she went to lunch , came back and I had to go to the window to ask for the letter back that the Dr., gave to me , she said oh , let me check , she never gave it to him , she allowed me to sit in the waiting room after my dr visit for over an hour , after that she said Dr will send the letter to My Chart , to return to work , that was Monday 3/24/25 , still no letter , worse part I had the letter in my hand and gave it to her for Dr to make a correction I never leave a bad revi
