Okeechobee Urgent Care

I brought my son here to be seen today and I was so impressed with the APRN, her name is Christine Ojeda as I saw full name on scripts. She was thorough, attentive, caring and very kind. One of the best visits I’ve had from a provider thus far.

Just left there and am now having my daughter seen at the ER for a matter that should have been resolved at this urgent care. I called ahead to ensure they took my insurance, my husband rushed home from work, and got there two minutes before 6:30 to be told that they are no longer taking patients. I explained myself and our situation, to no avail. They didn't care that I would be having to take my daughter to the ER even though they didn't close until 7 PM.

I was very disappointed with my experience at this urgent care. The lobby was completely full, and patients were even waiting outside the door. There appears to be a serious lack of coordination in managing patient flow. The visit felt disorganized, and staff did not seem motivated to move patients through efficiently. This facility would greatly benefit from stronger management and better organization.

We came in specifically for an xray after a sports injury. We chose this place since it’s contracted through our insurance and supposed to be used as our primary care, but that was a big mistake. We waited almost an hour and a half for the xray machine to break and not be usable. There were multiple people waiting for X-rays. This has happened to us before so I even call ahead to make sure it’s functioning before we wasted our time. The staff was unbothered as it gave them more time to eat their tacos, chips, and guac right there at the desk. That’s disgusting and a complete disregard for infection control practices. I’d certainly recommend you seek care elsewhere if you’ve got the opportunity.

My parent was refused medical care at this urgent care solely because they do not speak English well. This was especially upsetting because the receptionist spoke Spanish, yet still denied service. Language barriers should never be a reason to refuse care, especially in a medical setting. My parents have medical insurance and had the means to pay for the visit. This experience felt discriminatory and unprofessional. I would not recommend this location to anyone with non-English-speaking family members.
