Northwest Health Urgent Care - Valparaiso

Because northwest health urgent cares are under the hospital umbrella, they are tectonically considered outpatient and will bill you as such. they charge physician and facility fees. Pretty unethical marketing if you ask me. Most urgent cares you go in and pay a doctor copay and any labs. you will be surprised to have some seriously high medical bills from a visit to these “urgent care” centers. Brought my son to the portage one that closed in 2023 for a laceration on his arm. He received a bandage and antibiotics and my bill was $580 dollars. Would have been cheaper for me to just go to the ER and pay my ER copay than to bring him here. Even my insurance said what they are doing is unethical but not illegal yet they won’t work with you either and “stand by” their charges and when you don’

In the past few months both of my boys and I have come here. All of us have been seen by Sheila. She was incredibly kind caring and has such a sweet energy to her. Great with kids younger and older too! I honestly with she worked in our regular Dr. office so we could have her. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We never waited more than a few minutes to be seen which really surprised me. Urgent care for us has always been a pretty miserable experience so this one has been wonderful to find!

They do not treat patients in a mental health crisis well at all. I was here for a physical illness and while it wasn’t a great experience, I was treated with human decency. Unfortunately my friend was experiencing a mental health crisis and had the unfortunate experience of being taken here. I’m surprised that the doctor passed medical school considering there is no way that he passed psych 101. The nurses didn’t treat her well either.

I’ve never had a bad experience there. The staff is very friendly. The nurses and doctors take the time to listen and explain. Thank you!

Waited about 15 minutes at the window before anyone greeted me. Once I was greeted the blonde white woman was very rude. I wanted to see a provider in the urgent care due to a finger laceration and she kept asking me why I was I was in and wouldn’t let me finish my sentence. Very unprofessional behavior I am paying customer.
