North River Ophthalmology

I called the Tuscaloosa office for an entire week last week, finally called the Birmingham office, trying to get an appointment. Twice the Birmingham office forwarded me to the Tuscaloosa Office who seems to never answer the phone. After a multitude of voicemails was left someone returned my call this past Monday (3) days ago to set me an appointment. After telling me to hold on a multitude of times she finally advised that she was placing our call on hold. After holding sometime and waiting, wasting my time she picked the phone up and then hung it up. I was expecting her to call me back to make this appointment. I guess they don't want my appointment. This was my first time at North River Ophthalmology. The receptionist was was very rude. Whoever is sitting at your front desk should be welcoming, because it sets the tone for the rest of the visit. The lady that dilated my eyes and Dr. Sputh were wonderful, but other than the two of them, no one was friendly, and I would not go back or recommend. I also expressed wanting contact lenses. I was measured before I left, and they said there was nothing else they needed from me. A week later, I get a phone call that I need to come in to be fitted for contact before they can do anything for me. I'm just not sure, before I was pushed out the door, why they didn't do everything they needed to do in that visit. I would have given a 1 star review if it hadn't been for Dr. Sputh and the sweet lady

Love the doctors here! Great staff. 4 star is because I've yet to be called anywhere close to my appointment time. But if you don't mind that and you like playing musical chairs then it'll be a 5 star for you.

The front in staff is very unfriendly! Doctor scammed multiple visits out of me without treatment claiming he wanted to observe how my condition progressed. Then they charged me for procedures they didn't even do.

Dr. Sputh is extremely thorough and does a great job of explaining everything. The nurses are great, too. David in the optical store is very helpful and knowledgeable.
