I stayed at Nebraska Medicine after receiving a kidney/pancreas transplant and couldn’t be happier with my care. Every surgeon, doctor, nurse, tech and staff member went above and beyond to make my stay as pleasant as possible. I received multiple blood transfusions and procedures after the transplant and they kept my pain in check and literally helped me with every single request I had 24/7. They even brushed and braided my hair to make me feel better. My nurses included Jenora, Jackie, Cate, Trang, Jenna, Bailey, Keila, Kayla, Kim, Parker and Ben and I left feeling like they were all family. I can say with complete confidence that Nebraska Medicine is one of the Top Hospitals in the Nation, if not the world. For the past 40 years the doctors, nurses, staff, secretaries, cafeteria workers, cashiers, maintenance workers, technicians, etc. have treated me, our two sons and our families with respect, compassion, and the highest expertise. Our successful kidney transplants and continuing care have given us new life. I recommend UNMC to all I know who need it.

Its was amazing to see how many people were getting kidney tests done to get on a waiting list and you know just by looking at the people that most will get denied. It is nothing but a cash machine for the transplant unit. Don't waste your time and money on false rumors that you can get a transplant within a year.

Pass on this facility and if you do use the transplant center set your expectations low so you won't be disappointed. Support staff, ie.case manager, social workers and others pretty poor patient service.

My brother in law has been trying to get tests done to get back on the transplant list and ha gotten nothing but the run around. People telling him they need one if his Dr's to sign off on something and has told him they have called and called the Dr's office when he calls the Dr's office they tell him they jave already signed off on the item and have received NO calls. It's excuse after excuse. Are you just waiting for him to die?
