Mission Heritage Medical Group Same Day Care - Laguna Niguel

I took my mom here recently because she had wrist pain and to us we didn’t considered it as an emergency like other cases. We did arrive there at 7 pm. But the admin assistant asked if we had an appointment. Never in my life I would think we needed an appointment. She redirected us to mission viejo because they close later. But by the time we got there they were closed too. I was very disappointed.

What a terrific experience taking mom to Mission Heritage Medical Group on LA Paz in Laguna Niguel. The office staff were professional, friendly, efficient and welcoming. Avalon, Dr. Shin's assistant, called us to the back and what an amazingly friendly, professional, thorough and caring person. Avalon went through mom's medical history, medications and current issues and was not only pleasant but compassionate and kind. Dr. Brian Shin then entered the room and we went through introductions. Immediately he notified us that he would be recording our session and was so kind, passionate, thorough and professional in his mannerisms and evaluation of mom's medical history and current concerns. Tried calling to make an appointment as a first time patient with my new primary care physician, the girl I talked to was not helpful at all. She insisted that my new doctor was not accepting any new patients despite my insurance already approving it, and exclaimed "well, it won't go through on our side". She pretty much told me I was out of luck, and couldn't schedule any appointments with any other doctors until next year. She gave no additional suggestions or support on what I could do next. Horrible customer service!

Ive been here since I was a child seeing Dr Mehaan. Unfortunately its not the same anymore. Caring for their patients is not a priority. They see patients following up on things, that the office is supposed to have handled, as a burden. Failure to submit request for authorization leading to 2 weeks pain and delays for brain treatments, miscommunication between office staff, nurses and doctors, so ill get multiple different answers that don't make sense. Lastly rude staff members who again see you trying to take care of yourself as a hassle. Justin just told me very rudely to “just pay it out pocket” when I request my doctor to authorize medication through my insurance. There’s an overall lack of empathy without understanding anyones financial or medical situation across the whole office.

The receptionist was incredibly rude and not professional. When asked about how he was doing he would reply back “It’s going” and roll his eyes. I can notice if someone is having a bad day but all I did was walk into here to have my chest pain looked at and I was met with this unprofessional receptionist giving me rude remarks, making me repeat information just to have me write it down, and did not treat me with the level of respect I was noticing from the other receptionist. Very disappointed since I’ve been coming here since I was little. Hope he gets his act together since I notice his co workers were getting the same attitude. Such a fine establishment ruined by a bad egg.
