Mercy Hospital St. Louis

I had a wonderful experience at Mercy Hospital. The nurses treated me like a queen. I was terrified about the epidural, but they walked me through every step and made me feel calm and safe. From the minute I arrived until the moment I walked out with my baby, I felt truly cared for. They went above and beyond, and I’m so thankful for the love and support I received during one of the most important days of my life.

This hospital with their nurses and surgeon Sweany has been spot on excellent and their care for my daughter and new granddaughter has been exceptional! You all are great! 💯 You know who you are! My daughter and I missed nurse Jonae when she went home. I will forever be thankful for you all!

I gave birth to my third child here last year after moving from out of state and it made me realize how fortunate I'd been with my first two... Overall I did not have a great experience here from the time I arrived by ambulance. The intake/triage staff at l&d were taking their time processing me after the EMTs had called ahead specifically to alert them to the urgency of my condition and I had to repeat things that the EMTs had already told them. At one point they even had the wrong file open, thinking I was someone else. One of the triage nurses was very kind and the doctors were too but the resident was impatient with my questions and not automatically just going along with their suggested treatment. We had an excellent experience at Mercy for my 6 year old daughter’s umbilical hernia repair. From start to finish, the entire staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and reassuring, not just to me as a parent, but especially to my daughter. The surgeon, Dr. Pennell, was wonderful. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt completely comfortable with the procedure. His calm and friendly manner truly put us at ease. What stood out most was how thoughtfully Mercy catered to my daughter. The playroom, coloring books, and fun, age appropriate ways of preparing her for surgery made what could have been a scary experience feel much easier for her. I will start with I know that naming names comes with the risk of leaving all the other folks I may have came in contact with feeling left out. The risk is worth it to me. So I will say now not one nurse or MD disappointed me from all made a horrible incident bearable. Mike & Kitty were the first two nurses I remember while arriving at Mercy. They were warm & comforting. Reassuring and continued to check in on me the entire time I was there. Thank you Mike & Kitty. The next phase I would encounter many names & faces, but Abbey was the constant figure that cared for me, listened to me and was amazing in her professional & personable approach to caring for me.
