I have been having severe GI issues since last year, following gastric bypass surgery. My symptoms started again this past January, and I was finally admitted 2/5-2/7 for severe colitis. After symptoms returned with a vengeance yesterday, I came back, only to be told the CT this time showed constipation (even though I’m having severe diarrhea & vomiting), and then, I was sent home. Today, symptoms persisted, severe pain, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea. Dr. Whitney Chandler was very smug, treated me like I was about 5, and just gave Zofran & Tylenol?!?! Are you kidding?!?! She looked at me and said, “All your tests are great; I really just don’t know what else to do for your abdominal pain; just take some Bentyl or something at home.” Prior to her comments, I said I wanted to leave AMA a
I was a patient at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, and I truly cannot say enough good things about the care I received. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness. The doctors were thorough and took the time to explain everything clearly, and the nurses were absolutely incredible—attentive, reassuring, and always one step ahead of my needs. During a very scary and vulnerable time, the entire team made me feel safe, heard, and well cared for. I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care and would not hesitate to recommend this hospital to anyone.
I went in today to have my hand evaluated because I was concerned it might be fractured. The visit took about three hours for bloodwork and X rays, which was reasonable. When the doctor came in, he told me there was no fracture. However, the interaction felt very dismissive. He grabbed my injured hand firmly and pressed on it despite me telling him that it hurt and asking him to be careful, he even rolled his eyes. The pressure was significantly painful. The whole thing only lasted about two minutes, it felt extremely rushed like he wanted me out of his hair. Although the imaging showed a contusion rather than a fracture, I explained that I was still experiencing severe pain and difficulty making a fist, especially when applying pressure. He responded in a rude tone, stating that I was “ma
My mom has been on a rollercoaster the past few years with her health. Every time we have been to the hospital has been a positive experience. The doctors, nurses, techs, and many other employees have always been friendly, sincere, and very caring for my mom. Thank you to all of you especially the staff in the south tower on the 5th floor. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough.
Absolutely unacceptable experience at Hermann Memorial Hospital. The staff was shockingly rude, dismissive, and openly disrespectful, especially toward Black and Brown patients. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like an inconvenience rather than a human being who needed care. The lack of compassion was disturbing. Staff members spoke with attitude, rolled their eyes, ignored questions, and showed clear bias in how patients were treated. It was painfully obvious that respect and urgency were not given equally. I witnessed and personally experienced behavior that felt racially motivated, demeaning, and completely unprofessional. This is NOT a hospital I would ever recommend to people of color. If you are Black or Brown and value dignity, safety, and being taken seriously, I strongly
