MedStar Health: Urgent Care in Gaithersburg at Muddy Branch

Very disturbing note included in my discharge instructions to "Please remove my necklace" - I was in for a hip x-ray and nothing was said to me about removing jewelry at the time of the x-ray - however, the discharge instructions (see photo) included the note. The necklace I was wearing is included in the picture. I find the note to be anti-semitic and threatening. One of the professionals who saw me was wearing a head scarf. While my interactions with her were professional and pleasant, I was floored by the note. I would never go back here again.

At first, the person was polite and courteous, which I appreciate. However, my experience changed when my emergency situation was interrupted to handle another case, leaving me unable to finish explaining. When I asked a question to better understand, the reaction seemed irritated and we were practically asked to leave the consultation. This has happened to me twice at this place. The service feels rushed and overly focused on payment, without the time and consideration a proper consultation requires. I went in on a Friday because my own GP could not see me. I was impressed at the efficiency - I walked in, did a basic check in at computer. Then was sent a link on my phone to provide more details about my medical concern. Once I was finished with the paperwork, I was called into a doctor's office within a few minutes. Everyone was kind and made me feel calm. I appreciated their sympathy toward my illness. Got a diagnosis and treatment plan, and went on my way. I have insurance, but I appreciate Medstar's flexible system for payment. Grateful to have this option when I can't work with my GP. The medical staff are my heroes!

Was greeted warmly and instructed on how to check in. Once all digital check in paperwork was done I was called back within minutes. The Nurse Practitioner I saw was great. My only qualm is the digital check in process. It asked for all meds I’m on but entering each medication took 3 prompts/screens. and I’m on several so it was taking way too long to put it all in. If I was in any more pain or discomfort I’d be very irritated on how long the process was taking. I just wanted to get called back and seen. thankfully I only put one medication in and the nurse who took me back said not to worry about it -she’d look the rest up in their system and did.

I always have a good experience going to this location. They were busy and asked if I wanted to change my appointment from in person to virtual . I did, so much by then waiting when you don’t feel good.Staff is very friendly, kind efficient and introduces themselves. They offer to help if needed. Jasmine is a sweetie.
