McLaren Macomb - Emergency Department

I brought my 80-year-old husband to the emergency room on Friday night due to flu-like symptoms and breathing difficulties, along with his history of heart issues and an abdominal aortic condition. Because of his shortness of breath and stomach pain I was concerned it could be heart-related , aneurysm or possibly pneumonia. We checked in without issue, and he was evaluated promptly. An EKG was done, and we were told a chest X-ray and COVID test were ordered to check for those concerns. All of that was completed fairly quickly, around 7:30 p.m. After that, we heard nothing. No doctor came to discuss results or next steps. By 11:00 p.m., after more than three hours of waiting with no communication, we decided to leave. here are some absolutely disgusting / potentially illegal experiences you or your loved one can expect to have in the "yellow unit" - where mental illness is treated like a criminal offense. - family is given no input, nor are patients, as to where they are transported for care - neither a social worker or psychiatrist ever spoke to us - patients were regularly dehumanized and made fun of by nursing and security staff in front of everyone - patients were threatened with "being tied up" as PUNISHMENT which is not only illegal, it's inhumane - "nurse" Cheryl specifically told me that social work is done "behind the scenes" and that not one person could tell me what to expect once my loved one was transported elsewhere because "they don't know what happens over there" - when i clarified "A s

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional care I received from RN Lauren Croft . Their dedication and compassion truly made a significant difference during my time at McLaren macomb! Lauren consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism and empathy. For instance, during my sisters er visit she treated us like we’re her family and listened to us which greatly had an impact on me! I felt safe and well-cared for. Honestly live in canton and would drive right back here if I need anything just because of the way me and my family members were taken care of !!!!!! Please make her nurse of the year or something !

My husband was in the ER for 5 hours and hasn’t seen a doctor. The nurse told him that he was being discharged because “he wants to go home” yeah, pretty much because he is in pain and you guys can’t even hurry and get him the attention that he needs. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE FROM THE FRONT DESK! Never go there

My dad was brought here by ambulance lights and sirens because he couldn't breath. My dad also has Bladder cancer (7cm). When I was finally able to go back and see him, they had Interns who had no clue what they were doing, doing an ultrasound on my dads heart and couldn't find the heart valve 😡. When I went to the bathroom the shower had human feces all over the wall. I have pictures. I will NEVER bring him here again.
