Mayo Clinic Urology

I saw Dr. Chandler Dora because I had an enlarged prostate and an overactive bladder. I wanted to see him, because he had the most experience doing the holep procedure. What I greatly appreciated was Dr. Dora's honesty and thoroughness. He told me that the holep procedure might not relieve my overactive bladder. He gave me an advanced recommendation for a procedure called neuromodulation which I followed through on a year afterwards with a Dr. Jamin Brahmbatt in Clermont, FL who inserted an implant from Axonics. Axonics is the newer neuromodulation company, but their products are superior. I had seen a couple of doctors in Orlando prior to seeing Dr. Dora who also do holep. Neither suggested that holep alone might not help me wiht my bladder. I was accommodated in the Mayo Clinic

The urology clinic at Mayo with this doctor and his staff of RNs are just wonderful. Dr Ethan W. Has been so kind and helped alleviate many fears of the unknown… with my multiple sclerosis leading me down a path to needing a supra pubic cath. Changes every 4-6 weeks…. I was a RN in my old life but when you are the patient your fear and anxiety at least with myself are greatly elevated. The Dr E.W. And his group of nurses have been so kind…. Try them they have many doctors and nurses and if unhappy just ask to see someone else. I only say this because I see low star rating…. There is a perfect fit for you there you just have to find Him/Her. Thank you to all the staff at the urology dept from the surgeon… to follow up care. TG

I am an urgent case and have an appointment booked a month away. I have had more tests than one can imagine and my file was sitting in som queue. Reconsider going here - you are just a number

Before making an appointment they require you to submit medical records from previous urologists you have seen. I wanted to avoid this due to mayo making preconceived notions rather than listening to me and my experiences firsthand. My previous doctors blanketed my condition as overactive bladder and put me on meds and sent me on my way. Mayo has an amazing reputation and even close friends have told me mayo is the place to go. Even seeing previous reviews had me hopeful they would be able to figure out what is going on with my bladder. When the scheduler called to set up an appointment she said “doctor Petrou reviewed your medical records. He doesn’t think there is anything he can do to help you but he will still see you” This is precisely why I did not want to send over my medical record

Had an excellent overall experience. I'm cancer free"as far as I know". Had some follow-up then something went wrong. I called several times for my follow-up appointments and got no response. Well they said they would mail my appointment schedule. After a couple of years I gave up.
