I had a prostate biopsy with Dr Perlmutter on December 10, 2025. When I asked questions prior to booking the appointment, I was told that the chances of serious post-op complications are virtually negligible. Late on December 11, I had severe shaking and chills with a fever of 103° for four hours. I called Dr Perlmutter’s office first thing in the morning (Dec 12) and described my symptoms. I was told to come to the office for a urine sample. There was a doctor in the office and patients in the waiting room. After leaving my sample and the sample being tested, I was given a prescription for oral antibiotics and told that I should be fine. My husband is a patient of Dr. Daniel Kim in this group and has recurring bladder infections. I called the office on January 6 in the afternoon and left a detailed message because of a current episode. No return call. I called again the next morning January 7, left a message again and no response. We went to JSMC to the ER and my husband was treated. So disappointed since Dr. Kim mentioned to call if there was another episode. It's been a week now and no one from the office has reached out.

Despite the urgency of the patient's medical condition, requiring immediate follow-up with a urologist after hospitalization for a life-threatening infection and a blockage, the response from the scheduling staff was dismissive. They acknowledged the critical nature of the situation, stating, "We get calls like this all day. I empathize," but maintained, "we are booking appointments two months out." When pressed further, they offered no alternative solutions, merely reiterating, "Sorry." The refusal to accommodate an emergency follow-up represents a disregard for the patient's immediate medical needs.

Holy crap. Was there for first visit. Looked at Medicare charges, very expensive. I feel like a criminal. 3 stars because they fit me in their schedule. Don’t get a urine analysis, $1,700 charged to my supplemental insurance never again.

I met Dr Mark Perlmutter while a patient a JSUMC a few years ago. I instantly sensed he was interested in me and my recovery from a serious illness even though I explained I already had a good urologist. After recovering, I checked his credentials and switched to his care which has been outstanding for the past five years. He is a graduate of a top ten medical school and is one of the only robotic surgeons in his speciality. My wife and I only see the best doctors. We usually travel to Weill Cornell or MSK in Manhattan to see other specialists, with the exception of our cardiologist in East Brunswick.
