Marion Medical Mission

An extraordinary Well Program providing the extreme rural poor in Malawi, Zambia, and Tanzania with a sustainable source of safe drinking water. The well built is maintained by the rural villagers without outside assistance. Last year 3,015 wells were built covering over 57,000 square miles. The children in these villages will no longer die from unsafe drinking water... and the people are healthier and can work longer in their fields producing more food meaning less starvation.

Marion Medical Mission is an amazing organization that truly supports and aids the people they say they are! The cost of a well is minimal and when you stop to think about what these families and children are drinking to survive, it's the easiest donation ever. I was able to see a small child drink fresh water for the first time and her face, priceless.

I have served on two different shallow well teams bringing safe water to villagers in Malawi, Africa. The impact on the lives of villagers, volunteers and donors is huge! Community, clean water, and Christ's love are gifts beyond measure. When we had completed our work in one village, I watched one family dance and sing "We have seen the love of God!"

I found out about Marion Medical Mission when I heard their representative, Kimberly Richey, speaking on a Sunday morning public service radio show. She spoke about how the women in some countries in Africa had to get up in the middle of the night, gather up the young children, and make the daily trek to find water for the family for the day. She mentioned how they had to compete with the dangers on the road, and often times didn't even find clean water when they reached their final destination. Then she told how Marion Medical Mission went to Africa and built wells for these families, eliminating the need for dangerous daily trips and changing their lives forever.
