Loma Linda University Children's Hospital

My recent stay at Loma Linda Children’s Hospital ICU was very difficult, and unfortunately not because of the medical care, but because of the lack of accommodation for parents. My son is 5 years old and has chronic lung disease. He has been in and out of the hospital since birth, so hospital stays are nothing new to our family. During past admissions, my husband and I have managed by either sharing the pull-out couch or, at times, my husband sleeping on the floor so that one of us could always be close and comfortable while staying with our son. This time, however, someone complained about my husband sleeping on the floor. The charge nurse came in and told him he was not allowed to sleep there. Called to schedule an appointment for first time patient. It took 4 receptionist for me to say "DO NOT TRANSFER ME AGAIN!" So she can put my information in. By the 5th person transfered she said "I don't have you in the system " ....all very helpless!!!! I got a call from my Dr saying physical therapy got approved by the insurance and ALL the receptionist "don't" have access to the information. WTH 😤😤😤 Stephanie, Maritza, Christine...and the other two !!!

I was needed to be in maternity and labor floor due to high sugars during the pregnancy. They were amazing, doctors always updated me at least every morning or evening if anything changed and for all updates. Nurses were constantly on schedule time for providing blood sugar checks, insulin, vitals, and checking baby heart beat and movement. The cafeteria staff was great on calling if I was 45 minutes late on ordering and would get correct order unless they didn’t have the item they would substitute with something else which was great for me in my opinion. The housekeeping was kind and provided towels and wash clothes all bedding for dad because they even had a sofa that folded down as a bed for dad or for your support person to stay with you during stay. Bringing your child to the emergency department can be scary, but from the front desk to the back, every staff member was caring, calm, and highly competent. The whole process was smooth and efficient, and the nurses and physicians helped put me at ease during a stressful time. The entire experience showed exactly why this hospital is top-ranked nationally. I’m truly grateful for the care we received.

Absolutely recommend. My daughter is five and had a surgery here, and they did such a good job taking care of her, making it fun before the surgery, and making her as comfortable as possible after the surgery, as well as keeping me well informed and in the loop throughout the entire process.
