Laurels of Sandy Creek

Brother has been a resident at the Laurels for 4 years: dementia & Parkinson's symptoms. His personal care has increased with the progression of his illness. The staff is very in-tune with his needs. Initially I had some communication issues with management as he was admitted in the height of the Covid lock-downs. We worked through those issues & now have excellent communication. Brother can be difficult to manage at times & the staff responds appropriately. My goals for Brother at his admission remain the same: he & those about him be kept safe, he is fed, he is clean & he is comfortable / content as much as possible given his diagnosis. It is interesting how this place even has a 3.5 rating. These places are all holes, so it's best not to expect much. If it is necessary or vital to your recovery you won't find that here. 90% of the ratings that claim 5 ⭐ are lies. They read like scammers on fb. The other 10% are deluded or got bamboozled. The problem with this place is lack of oversight. There is no accountability. There is no continuity. The staff, or some of them, do what they can. Others do the minimum. The food is criminal. Today's dinner was a hamburger bun with a boiled chicken patty (i think it was chicken) and sugar water. Pain medication is not a priority, and the doctor, whoever that is, never met him, likes to reconfigure your medications and orders them for all hours of the night. Orders from your doctor do n

The staff is excellent, the activities are great, the food is VERY good! The other residents are special. We would recommend the Laurels of Sandy Creek to anyone who needs excellent care, wonderful people and an atmosphere of empathy and compassion. And their concern for the resident as well as their family is superior.

My brother was a resident here for almost 1year, the staff are great, they really cared about the patients, they took care of him far better than any of the other places he had been before. The difference here is the staff, from the head of nursing to the nurses and nurses aids, they have really good staff and they do a good job hiring good people. We were so thankful he got to live here as long as he did!
