Lancaster General Hospital

I have been at LGH emergency department 3x since October with my parents- 2x with my dad (86) and today with mom (77). Parking is simple; security is nice even when setting off the alert; the check in staff are professional and efficient; the nursing staff and doctors, techs- they have all been great! We have been in for a fall w/injury; fall w/ flu and today a cardiac scare. Today the waiting room was PACKED, not a spare seat to be seen. All staff are presenting “no problem, we got this” attitude. And the pizza! Don’t know if we were starving or what but that was good! There are choices of health care in Lancaster County, which is great- competition makes us better. I work at one of the other health system and truly believe our providers and care are exceptional. I've deleted a previous review as I was treated very well during my short hernia surgery. I was comfortable and warm the entire process. I'm grateful everything went perfectly. I understand the last time I was there, I may have been difficult to deal with. So I'm giving a five star for this surgery.

I see why Lancaster General Hospital has 2.9 stars. I came in on February 16th, 2026 around 7:30pm because I was suicidal and trying to admit myself voluntarily. Instead of receiving help, I was treated terribly by the behavioral health staff. I answered all of the nurse’s questions, and she told me I didn’t qualify because I hadn’t harmed myself yet or had an official plan. At one point she rudely said, “Hurry up because I need to get back to my job.” The whole interaction made me feel like I was wasting her time. What made it even more confusing was that she kept changing what she was telling me. First she said I didn’t qualify, then later she said I did qualify, then said I didn’t again, and then said I should be 302’d. I said I didn’t want a 302 because I came there trying to admit my

This is a fantastic ER. Run smoothly from a patient’s perspective. Front desk staff were incredible, security so kind, Dr. Skidmore was fantastic, Lorraine RN was fantastic, technician John was so kind, Reese the CT transporter was great, registration was thorough, phlebotomy, EKG, triage, everyone was beyond nice, friendly, personable, and warm. I am in medicine and have worked in an ER for 8 years in NY. This was a very kind staff and everyone made you feel like you were being taken care of. Our visit was the night of 1/16/26, from 1830-2230. Thank you all!

I want to thank all the nurses who cared for my husband Gabriel in the ICU UNIT on the 6th floor. Mia,Bri,Sam,Bob,Katie, Caroline,Sydney,Taylor there was more but can’t remember.
