Lancaster General Health Blood Donor Center

This post refers to the website rather than the donation center or any of the staff. I had today off for Juneteenth. Was in the area of the Health Campus and decided to make a donation. Checked the website on my phone and the information listed the donation center as being open today. Instead it was closed. Someone needs to be able to change the status from open to closed on the website when no one is going to be there.

This place is nicer then most blood banks I have been to. They only loose a star due to not being as high tech as the red cross. You still need to fill out a paper questionnaire. Nurse Wendy was great checking in on me during the donation. They also check your blood pressure before you can leave. Over all a very friendly and welcoming place.

Nice space entirely donated to blood donations. Waiting room played some groovy tunes. I’ve donated here 5 times- each time is slow. Unlike a blood bank, the workers just are on their own time. Everyone has been nice and helpful, but since you’re already donating your time (and blood), they could definitely pick up the pace.

Very pleasant donation experience. Friendly and warm staff, groovy tunes in the donation room, super comfortable recliners. I was the only one donating at this time (Tuesday afternoon before Thanksgiving). Safe, clean, and efficient!

Do not appear to follow standard safety blood donating protocols and care less for the needs or safety of their donors once they have what they want. Your experience is dependent on the skill set, friendliness, and care of the staff member which sadly is not representative of the entire center. Will never recommend. If I could give it a ZERO star I would.
