Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center: Otolaryngology

The post consultation follow up appointment scheduling process here is a scam, in my opinion. They scheduled my follow up appointment saying that "you can cancel it anytime if not required". I canceled the appointment a day before (over 23 hours before my scheduled appointment), and now after 2 months, they sent me a bill of $50 no show/cancelation fee. Upon calling them to clarify it, they say "if you didn't read the appointment instructions details message in the MyChart portal, sorry, you will have to pay the no show/cancelation fees if it was not canceled more than 24 hours"). I dont question the policy mentioned in the detailed appointment instructions but the same information was not given to me when the appointment was scheduled at the doctors office.
