Dr. Callahan truly cares for all of his patients. My cat, Jaxon, is just over 1 year old, and he suddenly got ill, and I didn’t know why. Dr. Callahan and his staff have been so amazing, kind, and patient with me through this whole situation. They have all gone above and beyond for Jaxon. They show so much care and love for both him and I. When your fur baby is sick, it can be very scary. Not once did anyone make me feel I was being annoying or like a bother, even though I called a few times a day to check on him. Thank you, Dr. Callahan and staff! You are all truly amazing! Jaxon is feeling so much better today, and I’m very grateful I chose you to care for my fur baby.

My dog Rebel was hit by a pickup truck just after 6pm on a busy street near my parents house a few weeks back. From the outside everything seemed fine except his tail was pretty badly mangled so I knew at a minimum he was going to need stitches. Then there's that unknown question of 'Is there any internal injuries?'. My dad googled "emergency vets near me" because it's after 6pm on a Monday so most places are closed. He somehow got a hold of Dr. Callahan who offered to meet us back at the clinic. Dr. Callahan was amazingly professional and straight forward. I was a mess so I appreciated the fact that he laid everything out on the table on how things were going to go. We took our young dog to Bulger ER after she presented as suddenly blind with severe GI issues. They encouraged us to euthanize. We took her to Dr. Callahan the next morning and he gave us hope. Diagnosed her with leukemia and started chemo. Saved her life!! Now she’s back to her happy puppy self. And she can see!! As a little chihuahua she likes about 6 people in the world and 3 of them work at Ipswich animal hospital.

My family and I have been going here for over 25 years and even had to put our 16 yr old dog down 2 weeks ago here and we are not coming back anymore. While having an annual exam Dr. Callahan walked in 35 mins late and did not acknowledge me or my cat and instead rudely told his assistant to hurry up and grab the cat. My cat was spooked by him immediately started hissing, I told him maybe if he said hi and let him sniffed him first he would be better and he said not what his file says (so then approach with more caution not less!) he then also said he didn’t need to be lectured on his job and he had just gotten out of a long surgery, which shouldn’t affect how you treat other customers, it’s your job! He said I can go elsewhere and that is exactly what I will be doing. His staff is great a
