Very disappointing and unethical experience I went in on November 14th for my annual physical exam, which is supposed to be fully covered by my insurance once per year. Instead of a routine checkup, the doctor Adriana Gomez added diagnoses that I do not have, seemingly to bill additional services that were never discussed or justified. This felt dishonest and unethical. At no point was I informed that the visit was being turned into something other than a standard preventive exam, nor was I asked for consent regarding extra diagnoses or charges. What made the situation worse was the handling by the office manager, Claudia. To start, the two doctors I see are great. The problem lies in the billing department. Let me preface this by saying I'm in the healthcare billing industry so I know what they should & should NOT be doing. They're committing insurance fraud and/or theft from their patients. For example, I went in for a physical and they billed me for TWO visits...a physical and a weight loss appointment. There was no weight loss appointment. I asked that my doctor refill an Rx I was previously on. Since I'm on a HD plan I got a bill for $160 for an Rx. This is theft not matter if the insurance company or the patient pays. This is purely a revenue generating practice and there is no medical need for the over billing when with the one questions you asked you still only got 10 min with the doctor. It doesn't
