My mom is a heart patient and has found success with the Lvad and her care team of doctors and nurses in this hospital! It’s been over a decade of trips to the clinic and er however today on 02/10/2026 I have noticed that they have heavily increased security and that’s concerning to me unless I missed something and also seems to be a new regime in this hospital 🏥 and it doesn’t feel good and I’m not a patient again just here on an appointment with my mom! Something tells me they have all this security to protect medical staff which I get but again it’s a very heavy presence here today!
The worst ER visit I’ve ever experienced. The system created for intake in the ER department is a joke and mind as well be called musical chairs. 10 hours of being triaged 4 times and forgotten about. Only saw a doctor after waiting all that time because I told them to send a nurse out to take this IV needle out that I had in my arm the entire time that served no purpose whatsoever so that I could leave. 10 hours of musical chairs, Tylenol that I could’ve taken at home, and no resolve to my issue whatsoever. Then of course I read my after visit notes and you would think I had the best treatment of all time. “Not in acute distress” - the entire time I was in excruciating pain that I labeled a 10 and came in because I felt like I was going to pass out from the pain. I was balling my eyes ou
This is the worst hospital for a high risk pregnant patient. I was transferred here from Bryn Mawr because I was told this was the best hospital, but let me just say that couldn’t be far from the truth. The doctors, attendings, residents or otherwise have no idea what’s going on from one person to the next. The MFMs and their IDK is unacceptable to me!! They just have zero clue and that’s scary for a high risk patient. I could care less what kind of surgery staff they have I wouldn’t trust them with my c-section. The wait times for nurses horrible, you have to ask several times for information and then you feel like a burden for asking. Take your insurance money elsewhere especially if you are delivering a baby or are high risk.
I had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Cara Cipriano (highly recommend) in the Pavilion Building and my overnight room was in HUP Main building. From the check in to discharge all of the staff were exceptional. The care of how a patient is doing is felt consistently. The 6:30am check in time I was met with the most cheerful Pre-Op nurse Philippe as well as all who prepped me. I had a nice room with a window and was surprised at how quiet it was. The nightshift nurses were amazing a I felt the care I was given through a hard night was so specific to me. The PT and OT who came the next morning were patient and I felt safe learning to walk with the fresh hip because of their support. The Patient Portal that Penn Medicine uses is easy to navigate and very responsive to questions sent in. I
I love this hospital. I have had every last surgery I’ve ever needed here at this hospital and they’ve taken care of me like no other. I recently had my c section done at another hospital and when I got home it opened back causing a large amount of fluid to leak from my body. I ran immediately to penn at 1:50 am 12/30/25. Since coming here for this issue, Penn has facilitated getting me home care (my insurance didn’t start until the first of January) and they had me come to the pec center to get my wound cleaned and taken care of until then. Once my nurses started coming to my home their case management team Tawanda and Tamika called around looking for the correct company to take my insurance so I can have a wound vac delivered. They even connected me with someone from financial assistance
