Highlands Urgent Care

I’m from Canada here for a month went here because I was advised from my out of province coverage they said they’d send info to clinic ahead of time young girl at front desk extremely rude, stated we don’t take out of country insurance said she did see some paperwork in the morning but couldn’t find it said I had to call insurance company again to fax paperwork again because she couldn’t be bothered to look again then wouldn’t take my insurance card made me email it to her, after almost an hour got in staff in back were very friendly X-ray tech was the friendliest and most helpful, Dr sent a script to Walmart then gave me a paper copy incase they wouldn’t take it Walmart wouldn’t accept either one so they had to call Dr for verbal order had to drive to Lake placid to get walking boot. My wife and I have respiratory issues. Place was closed up on Sunday at noon contrary to posted hours. Very disappointing, how unprofessional. Now we suffer the night, rather than pay a $500 deductible at the ER. I never knew health care would be more accessible in a third world country than my backyard!

I'm very disturbed by my only experience with this facility... I fell against a table and hurt my ribs at home... I wanted to get an Xray to make sure they weren't broken in a way that could puncture a lung... I called and explained this to whomever answered... She understood my situation very well, including that a visit there would be a $50 copay while the ER would be a $500 copay.... I know she spoke with the Dr because I was on hold for 22 minutes until the Dr came out of a room... I was told the Dr wouldn't see me because "If there was a broken rib, punctured lung, etc, I'd have to go to the ER anyway." I have to say that the two ladies working at the front desk were absolutely rude. The older lady (curly gray hair) when I arrived handed me the clip board " fill this out, come back with DL and insurance card, it'll be an hour maybe two wait.. never even looked at me. Then the young lady who I believe is fairly new, since she had to ask the other lady about the copay.. well if shes learning from her it shows because she was just as bad. I watch her with others and she was the same way. We don't go there because we want to, we go because we're sick. This place needs a lot of front desk training on personality. The nurse in the back and the Dr...great.

Not impressed!! I was sent here by my workman's comp provider. I had to have my case switched to Swift, out of Lake Wales. 1st Try; Called to see if they were open, they said yes, upon arrival 2-3 hour wait. 2nd Try; Stopped by early to prevent a long wait, closed. Website said open. Guess I should have called. Same day - tried tellahealth - also closed. 3rd Try; Called to see if they were open, they said yes, upon arrival they where not taking patients. 4th Try; Called to see if they were open, they were, but not taking patients. At least they told me that time. I will add this was all over the Holiday Season, it is the only reason I gave them a 2 star rating, otherwise it would be 1 star.
