In 2018 I suffered a fractured C5 and herniated C4 & C6 while at work. After years of continuing to work and seek the best medical advice as possible, I came to the conclusion that I could not avoid surgery any longer. Prior to visiting Dr. Ball I saw two other highly rated surgeons in the East Bay, Dr. Ball made me feel the most comfortable out of all of them. I had my surgery in August of 2025 at San Ramon Regional Hospital, everyone at that facility from the admitting people to the Nurses and other MD's I dealt with all made sure that I knew I had the best spine surgeon in the area, which of course made me feel that more confident about my choice. Post surgery wasn't terrible, I had a very stiff neck for around 3 weeks, for me the stiffness was better than what I was dealing with prior

Dr. Hieu Ball MD literally gave me my life back. I have recommended Dr. Ball to many people I’ve come across who have asked me why I was wearing a back brace or using a cane (which I no longer require). I was happy and excited with the opportunity to shout out my accolades for this wonderful surgeon. As for family and friends that know me, I was in chronic pain for several years. I had had a spinal fusion in March 2024 (by a different “doctor” and I use that term loosely). I had taken several years to finally make the decision on having back surgery or not. I finally gave in. I was so depressed and in pain after the surgery in 2024 I had absolutely no quality of life. I literally cried every day. Due to a pinched/compressed nerve from my failed first surgery, my right thigh ached constantl

I was referred to Dr Ball for a herniated Disc. It was the first time I have had an injury like this, and I was very nervous. I had everyone telling me not to have surgery on my spine. After an MRI, Dr Ball showed me that the herniated disc was in contact with my spinal cord and my only option was surgery. He made me feel comfortable and I felt very confident in what he was proposing. Dr. Ball, his staff and the staff at Redwood Surgery Center in CV put me at ease during every interaction. I had a total disc replacement and am very happy with the entire process. My scar is minimal, and my recovery has been going well. I would highly recommend Dr Ball and his team.

Exceptional Spine Surgeon – Precise, Honest, and Patient-First I had a large L5-S1 disc herniation causing leg weakness and numbness. Earlier I was getting treatment from Golden State Orthopedic and what a nightmare it was, after weeks of stress and zero care I decided to look for another doctor and I met Dr. Ball and— everything changed. He is sharp, experienced, honest, and direct, never sugarcoating or pushing unnecessary treatment. He understood exactly what was going on, explained all my options clearly, and always kept my best interest as the top priority. He made sure that I understood the urgency my symptoms called for and not end up with any permanent damage to my nerves. We began with an epidural injection, which he personally administered. When my strength didn’t improve,I got

I want to share that my initial visit to Dr. Ball was for a second opinion because my original MD wanted to do a several level surgery with fusion. I was left frightened and contemplating doing nothing at all. A friend suggested getting a second opinion from Dr Ball and I am so grateful that I followed his advice. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Ball and his incredible team! From my first consultation to my post-operative care, every step of my back surgery journey was handled with professionalism, compassion, and expertise. Dr. Ball took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, address all my concerns, and ensure I felt confident moving forward. His attention to detail and dedication to patient care were evident throughout the entire process. The surgery itself was
