HCA Florida West Hospital Emergency Room

I ended up staying a few nights due to dog bites on my arms. My nurse was excellent. The doctors were great! My first nurse was Amber up on the second floor. She was awesome! And I must admit she was extremely beautiful. Almost made me want to go and find the dog that bit me and let it bite me again just to go back….lololol Anyways, thank you Amber and I hope your son had a great birthday party. Unfortunately I fell on Valentines Day and realized I probably broke my ankle. My son in law was able to dive me to the new emergency room at the Pea Ridge Connector. They came to the car with a wheel chair to bring me in and a few minutes later they brought me back. Everyone was kind, helpful and very professional. Everything was clean and well taken care of, They took x-rays right in the room on a portable machine so I did not have to be moved, I had broken a bone and a lot of soft tissue damage. They called in an orthopedic specialist and tried to set my ankle but there was too much damage, I was given a bedside computer to complete my registration and was able to fill it all in including a scan of my insurance cards. I was transferred via ambulance to their hospital on Davis Hwy a

I can't say enough good things about the nurses and everyone who helped me, they are fantastic and very caring, it made my pains less stressful. Also the food was very good, even though they had to make special dietary food for me. The problems I had were not with any of the nurses assistant nurses, or any of the ones who took care of me. I am so very thankful for all of them.

I feel like once the ER heard I did not have insurance. They really did not take care of me. They did give me a brace and crutches, but they did not give me any pain medication or muscle relaxers to endure the pain because the next day I did not even get out of bed because I cannot move. The pain was severe and I appreciate what the ER does and I understand. They had other patients by because to them when I said that my insurance was not gonna start until February 1 to them I had no insurance and I feel like that’s kind of insulting and I understand my leg was not broken. I understand that I did not have serious injury, but I did have inner injury were bruising. Muscle aches were severe. I should’ve been treated much better. My 98 year old mother was transported to ER by ambulance from PT rehab facility. Nurse Andrew was excellent, very competent and compassionate. Dr. recommended admission and cardiology consult for possible pacemaker. After several hours, Dr Trent Norman came in and talked with us, discussing realistic treatment options for a 98 year old. Best discussion with a Doctor we’ve had in ages. Dr Norman provided facts and options that helped us make a good treatment decision for our mother. Can’t say enough good things about Dr Norman.
