HCA Florida Ocala Hospital

On 11/23/25, after an airboat accident, I was rushed here by ambulance for emergency surgery. What could have been one of the most frightening experiences of my life turned into a story of incredible care, compassion, and professionalism. From the moment I arrived, I was surrounded by an amazing team. After surgery, I was moved to the fourth floor, where every single person I encountered — from housekeeping to food service — went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely cared for. The kindness throughout this hospital is truly something special. And I have to give a heartfelt, enthusiastic shoutout to Amy, my daytime nurse. Amy’s care was beyond anything I have ever experienced. Her skill, compassion, encouragement, and positive energy made such a difference

Dear leadership: This is not the first time I’ve used your facilities. My other experiences were good to average. This visit had a better feel starting with initial contract. Pre-opp services were wonderful with pleasant interaction with all staff members. Noticing, everyone knew all the steps that were executed in a smooth manner. Post-ops: in a regular room, again very pleasant and calming. Interactions with all the staff was wonderful. I do appreciate all the attention provided to me. Everything was just outstanding. I only had 3 meals, each meal was prepared wonderfully. The meals were at temp and full of favor. This visit was an improvement over my other visit, which was great. The echo tech Gary was wonderful! Very professional and explained everything. All of the nurses were great. Doctors and rounding staff were professional and detailed. Kevin a night tech on the 3rd floor was also wonderful. Made my stay very pleasant 😁

Over all it was a good experience. I felt a bit rushed by the staff to go home. I was told that they would get me up to walk after I had come out of recovery. That was not done. Walking from the bed that I came from recovery on to the bathroom to get dressed was all the walking I got. Very bad withdrawal from the anesthesia and was still pretty messed up when I was discharged. I feel my after surgery care could have been handled better. I am doing well now and glad that it is over.

I have to give a huge thank you to the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital team in Gainesville and Ocala for taking such amazing care of me. Dr. Middleton (at the Gainesville Location) was truly incredible. He addressed my medical needs thoroughly and refused to send me home, even though I wasn’t too fond of staying. But I appreciate him making me fully aware of how serious the situation was. A special thank you to Charge Nurse Tina at the Ocala hospital (3rd floor Med/Surg) Mikayla (PCT), all of my incredible nurses and other staff, you all were absolutely amazing.
