Hartford Hospital

Absolutely horrible hospital. Family member admitted, sat in a hall for days before getting a room and ultimately discharged while labs were still getting worse despite my objection (the attending McClure refused to call me and made his clueless resident talk). Some findings concerning for cancer but oncology wouldn't come and insisted on outpatient. Tried arranging outpatient and wait was until Feb from Dec. Poor communication across specialties without a consistent plan being followed. Discharge was dangerous but sent home on a weekend with no follow up plans. Returned to the hospital the following week even worse, admitted for 3 weeks. The admitting Dr samanthapudi accused her of drinking antifreeze! Ultimately the concern for cancer was worked up and was the cause of the issues. On

Before addressing my concern, I want to sincerely acknowledge that the nurses and doctors were exceptionally friendly, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Their care and communication were greatly appreciated. My concern is regarding the condition of the room my mother was placed in. She has asthma and COPD, and the room assigned to her—5th floor, room 542—had a heater vent that was extremely dirty. Large amounts of dust were visibly blowing out of the vent, which caused her skin to become itchy and very likely aggravated her asthma symptoms. In addition to the cleanliness issue, the heater made loud, continuous noises and had a long copper wire protruding from it, which raised safety concerns. Came here to have a heart ablation done and was very impressed with the whole experience. My nurse Maureen was very nice and attentive during pre and post op. She and Dr. Friedman made the whole experience very easy and straightforward. I was able to go home the same day after the surgery which was awesome. The whole team that was involved did a great job.

I had an emergency stomach surgery that took 7 hours and from the moment I woke up out of surgery to discharge 6 days later, I can only say I had such a positive experience at Hartford hospital. From the nurses to doctors, they truly took care of me and made me feel like I can overcome what happened to me. Even after discharge, I still try to hold onto those positive vibes and the nurses/PT that visit me as in bed written have been awesome and helpful. I’m lucky that I went to Hartford Hospital and not somewhere else.

Had to try to sleep in the hallway. While staff had a fun time . Yelling and laughing. Talking about patients. With the door wide open hanging out . Didn’t care it was sick ppl trying to sleep @ 11 at night . They were acting like a high school getting together. Nurse didn’t say anything to them . Just told me it my right to leave . Pregnant with a possible blood clot .
