Halifax Health Medical Center : Halifax Pathology Associates

Completely shameful billing practices. They hire a company from out-of-state to process their billing. That company is the worst. They don't answer the phone. They don't listen to you. They don't listen to insurers. They are corrupt. They have been fighting with my insurance company over a bill for 10 months. Every time their shady billing outfit finds a new way to reject my insurance (it's not the fault my insurance company, which has handled EVERY bill I've had for the same date of service). Worst experience ever.

The 3rd party billing department in the Carolinas for this lab is so unprofessional (Rep Ann) totally rude. Didn't even let me finish asking a question. I received a bill after 1 year because these people decided to wait 1 year to bill my insurance and they obviously denied as timely. If they would have billed on time the claim would of paid now I'm being held accountable for your poor billing ethics. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WRITE OFF. Unbelievable how you take advantage of people who work hard to have health insurance. I WILL NEVER SEEK CARE AT A HALIFAX EVER AGAIN.

I got a notification from Credit Karma that a collection had been placed on me. I found out it was from Halifax Pathology Associates. Did some digging - turns out my insurance company paid the claim from the Hospital(Halifax health) which INCLUDED the charge from Halifax Pathology. But - as they told us, they don't call the Hospital for their money, we have to call the hospital and tell them to pay!! Even better, they had my address wrong. They KNEW they had it wrong. But they couldn't be bothered to check the Insurance company or the Hospital for the correct information. Even better - they gave the collection agency the wrong address, so I never received anything from either of them. Billing is a guessing game with the letter and website screaming scam. You can put random names and account numbers in and it will advance you to a payment screen that doesn't show how much is owed.

Worst business practices. They won't call your insurance company when they bill incorrectly and try to fix it. They told me I needed to talk to my insurance company and rebill it with the correct coding myself.
