Halifax Health - Freestanding Emergency Department, Hand Ave.

I was recently a patient at this Halifax Freestanding ER and I received the best care! I was immediately checked in, taken back to a room, and immediately greeted by a paramedic, nurse, and doctor! My blood work and imaging were done right away and I was in and out in record timing for an ER visit. The doctors and nurses as well as the rest of the staff were extremely attentive and thorough. 10/10 would recommend to anyone seeking excellent care in a professional and proficient manner.

They are a stand alone ER, meaning they can NOT do everything a big/main hospital can. They are great for less serious emergencies. They do get you in and out very quickly usually because they are new and not many people know about them yet. So they are rarely busy. Highly recommend unless it is a complicated or more serious emergency.

My first visit was with my son a couple weeks ago because he was sick with what I thought could be a stomach bug but it kept leaving and returning. I went here to have him checked and they did absolutely no tests and said it’s part of a stomach bug recovery. They were so wrong. I went to the advent er later that day because he was still so sick and they did 2 ultrasounds and bloodwork and it showed blockages in his intestines. Advent told me to bring him to the children’s hospital so I did. Glad I went to advent and got answers. Fast forward to today I went in for a cold and was swabbed but the doctor didn’t even know I was swabbed for anything and I never was told results after he said he would check. I saw on my paperwork I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection but was never

Brought my daughter in for severe stomach pain that had her doubled over in tears. We were brought back to a room and vitals were taken by a nurse immediately. After that, we saw no one for over an hour. We had to ask for help to the restroom at which point they told me to have her take a urine sample just in case, which we did. Then we, and the sample, sat unattended to for another 20 minutes before we just left. The front desk people and our nurse were very kind and courteous, but the fact that we got zero care was unacceptable.

Nice new facility. Staff were great, personable, and quick.
