Guterman, Carl B MD: Pediatric Eye Associates of Northern NJ

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Dr. Guterman. He is both an exceptional doctor and a truly kind human being. He was incredibly thorough with all the testing and took his time without ever making us feel rushed. His bedside manner is outstanding. My daughter said it was the most fun doctor appointment of her life thanks to the engaging toys, lights, and kid-friendly videos that kept her happy and relaxed throughout the visit. At the end of the appointment, he took the time to clearly explain everything to me and made sure I felt reassured and informed. I’m beyond grateful and cannot recommend him highly enough.

The level of care Dr Gutterman shows his patients is beyond anything I've experienced with any doctor in the US so far. We saw him cause my daughter had dacryostsnosis or a blocked tear duct of her right eye that didn't clear up by the time she was 15 months old. We saw him at the end of the October to establish the diagnosis and booked the surgery for December 12th. The eye exams he performed prior to the operation were thorough and extremely enjoyable to my toddler, she actually had a lot of fun with him, which is something we as parents can't say to often about our kids and doctors. The procedure (nasolacrimal duct probing) itself was quick and easy, she went in around 8am and my daughter was back to being herself by 9am. I had the most amazing experience with Dr. Guterman. Amazing. Took his time with my daughter. Very patient very thorough. Explains everything.. very kind. I seriously can't wait to come back. Also great front desk reception.

We took our elementary-school aged son to Dr. Guterman today for the first time. He is very experienced and kind and took plenty of time explaining things to us. We didn't feel rushed and that's rare in today's "factory medicine" era. His office staff were courteous as well. Excellent experience!

If I could rate this doctor 0 stars I would absolutely do this! This doctor is unprofessional to say the least. Brought my son in for a follow up appointment where later the receptionist started mentioning fees that needed to be paid, switched from stating it was a copay fee to then a no show fee for an appt last year which never existed. At this point the doctor came out because the receptionist asked for approval to waive the fee (that never existed) and the doctor says no we have to pay the fee. The doctor argues with me (in front of patients) and then shouts out to everyone that I should’ve paid my bills, this is all because I said I am canceling this appt and reporting him to the board. Mind you this is all over a $25 fee that never existed. Completely unprofessional, disrespectful. P
