Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital: Emergency Room

Knowledgeable and helpful, I have Multiple Sclerosis myself and well one thing that helped for sure along some medications but the main thing I think was Toradol, the low starting out pain meds helped also the hydrocodone or what not but those had helped pretty significantly with my sense and functions including eye nose my ears and throat. They had helped a fair amount with my pain management persay and at least understanding it's not just spasms in my muscles.

Had to come here due to my toddler falling and getting a big gash on her head. We don't live in grand rapids, just went up there for a spontaneous overnight trip. The receptionist was very friendly and told the staff in the back that we needed to get seen sooner than later. We got in after about a 10 min wait. After getting my daughter assessed and a bandage, we got into a room. The room wait was a little longer than I had hoped. We waited a little over 2 hours in the room. The doctor working was great. He was great with my daughter and talked to her as much as he talked to me. Nurse Noah was also great. Very respectful and friendly! Everyone made us feel as comfortable as they could in the situation.

After reading some reviews and feeling nervous about bringing my daughter here, I needed to come back and write something. My daughter broke her arm on the 4th of July and from the time we entered until we left, everyone was so kind and helpful. Yes, it was busy but that’s to be expected for a Friday evening and the 4th of July. The kind nurses brought us blankets, noticed how long we were there and brought cups of water and a special Starry for my daughter to drink. After getting tired and emotional after being all done, the nurse brought us to a special area and let my daughter pick out a toy and stickers. On vacation in northern MN and came in as a patient transfer for appendix removal. My nurse, Mistina, was amazing!! She deserves all of the alcolades!!! Professional, kind, and caring! Dr Owen's, who removed my appendix, was the most personal surgeon I have ever met! Wonderful bedside, patient, and caring. Made me comfortable with the process. I was given excellent treatment with great bedside manner. If you ever find yourself in need of care while on vacation in Northern MN I highly recommend the team at Grand Itasca!

Last week, my husband took me to the ER at Grand Itasca. I was treated with respect and concern. Dr. Anderson and Nurse Erin were wonderful. Since the hospital is now part of the Fairview system, I have seen and felt a big change for Grand Itasca for the better. The majority of the bad reviews of the ER were before the changes for the better.
