Grace Family Medicine, Dr. John Y. Lee

(2 stars only because Dr. Lee himself is a good physician) Dr. Lee is an excellent doctor. Unfortunately, his office staff—and the way the practice is run—completely undermines his medical care. I was a patient of Dr. Lee for over 10 years, including before he left Hill Country Medical Associates. I followed him to his private practice because I trusted him deeply. For many years, I had a strong, supportive relationship with the office staff as well. Sadly, over the last two years, the entire experience deteriorated significantly. Despite being stable and consistently healthy, I was required to attend six-month visits solely to receive my long-standing blood pressure medication. I'm leaving this review not a a patient but as another medical professional. I recently had a mutual patient and needed to communicate care for a specialist to Dr. Lee and his office. His staff was incredibly helpful and professional. I greatly appreciate the communication I had with Dr. Lee, and we were both able to continue care for our mutual patient. Obviously I cannot discuss any details, but rest assure he and his staff work hard for their patients. Thank you!

My husband and I began seeing Dr. Lee about eight months ago, and we’ve always felt he was an excellent fit for our family. We’ve visited his office multiple times for bloodwork and other services without any issues. Recently, out of nowhere, we received a call from his office staff stating that our health insurance was not covering the invoices, and we were suddenly expected to pay $1,200 immediately. When we inquired about what they meant by our insurance not paying, the staff member explained that they had spent hours on the phone with our insurance company but were facing issues with claims not being processed. Never got to be seen by Dr. Lee because the office requires a $100 deposit just to book EACH appt. Must be nice to be charging customers to secure an appt with this kind of practice being legal. I wasted money to never get seen because I can't afford to send $100 for a doctors visit.

I would rate Dr Lee himself so highly if it weren’t for the incredibly poor customer service and almost fraudulent way this office is managed. I followed Dr Lee from HCMA and referred so many people to him because he’s a great Dr…only to regret it later after his wife started basically taking over the practice and calling all the shots. They will require appointments every 3 months for prescriptions - even non-habit forming/meds that can’t be missed like BLOOD PRESSURE MEDS. Honestly I didn’t even mind coming that often because in my mind I was supporting a small business, and I had other health things going on when he started this policy and appreciated the checkups.
