Genesis Health Care

My Aunt was sent to Genesis in Norristown following a hospital stay for rehab in order to gain strength in her legs. The nurses were extremely nice and caring. But...the administrative staff was very lacking in communication between the nursing staff, doctors and my Aunt and Aunts family members. Was informed last minute of discharge which caused much undue stress on my Aunts Family members. Next steps following discharge were not clear. Additionally none of my Aunts food trays matched what was listed on the tickets..this happened consistently during her stay. The housekeeping staff were wonderful, attentive and pleasant.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I was a patient back in 2018 for about 2 months. Some of the staff was friendly, but not everyone. I asked for help from a nurse and was told to do it myself. Cleanliness was an issue. I even picked up an infection while being in this facility. Nurses would not change soiled gloves when needed to, causing major issues. Elder patients were just left in the halls to sit in chairs for hours at a time. Certainly would not recommend this place to anyone

Floor staff was slow to respond. Then staff was lazy and/ or uninformed of needs. Dietary took 4 days to ask my needs then still got it wrong. Not 1 tray during my stay matched the ticket on the tray.

Very unprofessional facility. Poor communication with family. My mom was transferred from Moss(acute rehab) to Genesis(which was supposed to be sub-acute for a period of 21 days). Dottie(Rehab Director) who never worked with my mother, writes my mom (recent Stroke Victim) report to the insurance company (after only 2 weeks and very little therapy) as meeting all goals, because she can walk 80ft down their hallway, while being harnessed to the therapist, with a walker, and wheelchair. So ridiculous. She has very little body improvement, and continues be unable to use her left side. Mom was entitled to unlimited care. Had the Rehab Directors not submitted such false wording to mom's insurance company, prior to talking with us a family, she could have been transferred to another facility. Add

0 STARS. I will be filing a formal complaint with the State of Pennsylvania and the board of nursing and pursue a civil lawsuit against Genesis Health Care. Abusive untrained nurses, particularly one named Melissa Thomas. I don't understand how this place continues to remain open or maintain its staff. DO NOT SEND your loved one's here for treatment. All the good healthcare staff members quit, high turnover rate, dirty facility, inadequate care for patients, the list goes on. When I'm through with this organization they'll have to rebrand. And I'm just getting started...
