General Optical

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had my last eye exam here, and they added a prism to my right lens, explaining that my eye needed it. I trusted the eye doctor and went along with the recommendation, but over time my vision became significantly worse. I recently visited a different eye doctor, underwent multiple tests, and was told that I never needed a prism at all. I ended up having to get a completely new prescription, which was drastically different from the last two prescriptions this location gave me—and with this new prescription from my new eye doctor , I no longer have any vision issues. I trusted this place with my eye care, and what happened should never have occurred.

I was in dire need of an eye exam and general optical was the only place accepting my insurance and able to get me in for an exam quickly. I was very excited I found them! The staff members are so kind! And my glasses were done the next day! Very impressive!

If I could give zero stars I would. I just recently switched general opticals to this place in the summer of ‘25 and placed to order my contacts and I called for 5 MONTHS and they had no information regarding where they were and ended up telling me they never ordered them so I demanded a refund. Just straight up wasted my time and took my money. I call to get my prescription and they tell me it expired and I’ll have to pay. Never going back and I suggest nobody else does. Terrible business!!

Ordered glasses 4 weeks ago and they still aren't done. I call every Monday morning and keep getting told they are still waiting on a coating. I ordered glasses last year paid for bifocal lenses they never made those I got lenses without them. The service here is crap! The always use the we are busy excuses for every thing. I will not be back ever again and have contacted my insurance company about not working them anymore, since they do not seem to care about making the product that has been already paid for.

I went into the Burton store off a center road to get some safety glasses.I work for the city of Flint.We have a contract with them for safety glasses. I asked one of the workers, her name was Dawn,about adjusting a pair of glasses that i had so they would fit better, they were not from General Optical. They use some type of heat to soften the frames and it damaged my lenses, and then they said that they were not responsible for the damage that she did. Unprofessional! Very, very bad business practices at general optical on center road. Stay away! Go somewhere else!
