First Step Pediatric Associates PA

If you have a marketplace plan, let me start by saying I understand how hard it can be to find a good pediatrician, accepting patients, and taking your insurance! 😅 We see Joanne at First Step Pediatrics in Cleburne and LOVE her! (They take our HMO plan.) They let the parents make the ultimate decisions for their babies and educate + encourage. We have always been able to get an appointment when needed, they are great at communicating quickly, referring to specialists if needed, and keeping your account current on insurance copays, PR, etc. Highly recommend if it’s close-ish to you. We drive about 40 minutes for them and think it’s worth it.

I just took my son for his first appointment (3y check up) and the whole experience was just amazing. My son LOVED all the colorfulness and found so many little activities and toys to play with in the lobby while Mama filled out paperwork. The front desk ladies were super helpful and so sweet. I wasn’t sure what doctor we’d get because they have a few, but we ended up seeing the Dr. Tim Scifres. He was very nice, told me a million times it was completely okay that my toddler was whipping the paper off the bed and acting like a zoo animal! I was able to bring up my concerns, not feel dismissed whatsoever, and also EASE some of my worries with my son’s development for his age. I HIGHLY recommend this office and the doctors! Firstly, we absolutely love nurse Darci and wish we could continue to see her, however this office is extremely unorganized. My sons 6 month and 9 month appointment were rescheduled on the day of for different times/dates. Today, we were suppose to go for a 1 year appointment that has been scheduled for 3 months. They called this morning stating they cannot see him because he doesn't turn 1 year for another 2 days. This could have been easily avoided if: A. The office would have scheduled us correctly in the first place. B. The office would check their schedule ahead of time to give people a little more notice. If they would have called a few days in advance this wouldn't be an issue, but this is the 3rd time this office has rescheduled us day of. Canceled and won't be returning.

We absolutely love Dr. Arouse! My children (6, 4 and 15 months) have been seeing Dr. Arouse since they were born. From the very first visit, I felt at ease knowing my children were in the best hands. He takes the time to really listen to both the kids and the parents, never making us feel rushed, and always explaining things in a way that’s easy to understand. Since we first met in 2009, Dr. Arouse has consistently taken the time to listen, explain, and ensure we feel comfortable and informed at every visit. His professionalism, compassion, and dedication to my children’s well-being truly set him apart from other clinics in the area.
