Family Eye Care

Terrible! The doctor is good, but the rest of the staff are horrible! They (John) try to sell you the most expensive glasses there. They don't run your insurance until you pay off your portion. Mine changed in the meantime. They never told me. I was not able to afford those glasses. I am currently waiting on a refund. Jan said she'll get back to me as soon as she gets to her computer about my $500 refund. That was Friday. Today is Monday.

The friendly, helpful assistant and knowledgeable doctor did a thorough and careful exam of my eyes and really made me feel comfortable during my visit. The eyeglass selection is fantastic and my insurance covered the majority of the cost. This is a great place to get your annual exam and cool new eyeglasses.

My experience with Family Eye Care has always been very positive. They're accommodating, respectful, and genuinely concerned about delivering excellent eye care. This review isn't based on just one or two visits, we have been going here for a number of years and service has been always been consistently good.

Have been going to this office since I was a teenager and started taking my own children here. But sadly I will be looking for a new eye doctor. Wait times are ridiculous. My husband received the wrong prescription and it took over a month to fix the situation. Today taking my daughter for her eye exam was the nail in the coffin. 2 appointments for contacts and glasses. This is not the way it was done when I got my contacts here when I was a child. I asked for a simple explanation of why it's done this way and was talked over and rudely to by Dr. Smay. Couldn't even be given a possible cost of what contacts or the co pay will be for her second appointment. Seems like another way to just get more money from us and our insurance. I don't see why everything can't be done in one appointment me

I've been going here for years but I won't anymore! The other day I called to set an emergency appointment because both of my eyes keep getting an infection in it; sounds like an emergency doesn't it? The lady on the phone tried to set me an appointment for late June. When I asked about scheduling an "emergency" visit she tried to send me to Monroeville and some other office somewhere in Pittsburgh. I've been loyal to this place since 1996 where's my loyalty in return when I have an emergency? They can't and won't get another dime from me or my insurance.
