Exchange Pharmacy

Speed of service depends on the number of people picking up on any given day. Sometimes it takes less than five minutes from check-in to leaving, other days you will be in for a wait. Staff has always been professional and courteous.

I tried for most of two days to get through to the GETINLINE service. The phone was always busy. I searched through various robotic phone trees for hours looking for a human. I finally found a human. She was extremely patient and resolved my problem as best as I could have hoped. Some of us are old and not enamored of technology. While on hold I was told to "simply go to our web site." That requires me to create a new account and password and remember that info like the dozens of other accounts. I understand why many of my peers simply give up.

I believe most of these bad reviews are from the main pharmacy at the hospital. Which takes forever to fill a script and to receive even when the script is filled. The one at the exchange is quick and easy. I submit my request online or over the phone. Show up when they are ready and I’m out in less than 5 mins. No complaints here. New script you have to do at the Ft. Belvoir Main Pharmacy at the hospital. There get ready to wait!

Why do they have a person standing there to run the check-in kiosk for you??? More people standing around to check you in than they actually have filling prescriptions and they don't even know the difference between serving uniformed service members first versus service members in uniform (many Active duty capital region members don't wear a uniform to work) . Then they issue a ridiculous number of letter prefixes to your number so you have no clue where you are in the queue. Worst DoD pharmacy operation that I have seen in 34 years of service

I've been using the pharmacy every since I retired in 1991 and I have no complaints. Sure, there might be a wait for service but when I compared the wait to the $$$$ saved I don't mind at all!!
