I staggered in barely able to turn my head after throwing an enormous bag of compost over one shoulder. My therapist, Michael at the Oak Street location, worked with me over two months to decrease pain and increase movement. He listened deeply to my complaints about pain, responded with thoughtful exercises, and now I have full range of movement again. He's been a wonderful partner in my healing--highly recommended!
This was my first PT experience from a mainly "sports Injury" practice. They say they take other patient's needs, but seemed to me that helping someone recover from an injury is a very different approach than from an internally caused problem. They use the "McKenzie" approach which is virtually no hands on work (saying it creates dependence). I'm used to the need for home exercises, but expect a bit more from a PT session. Also, their practice is on the second floor- not ideal from parking and access to stairs or a long walk to and from the elevator.
After two rounds of PT and a neurology test stating I had carpel tunnel, I was frustrated and discouraged, unable to relieve the painful tingling, heat and numbness in both my hands. I decided to try PT one more time and waited to see Jeff due to all the letters behind his name for treating hands. Jeff's staccato and impatient style can be slightly off-putting but I was convinced this was the guy after the initial exam and his statement "it's not your hands, it's your neck". Jeff's no nonsense directives to change my work station, my pillow and yes, making me go to the gym(!) have changed my life. He even met me at the gym to give me full instructions and show my husband how to watch for incorrect form. I don't wake up in pain, I have strength in my back and movement in my neck. Thank
Jeff is highly skilled and effective. I strongly recommend him especially for treating vertigo. He treated me so effectively that I was practically cured in one session.
I appreciate EPT’s open attitude & unbiased approach to people of all ages and disciplines. Jeff’s willingness to put together a pool routine & a gym workout on site is outstanding. It’s important to pay close attention & follow directions even if inconvenient. When Jeff told me to stop walking my dog, I was quite taken aback but ended up playing fetch. The result? My knee replacement healed up and my gait improved. EPT is leading the way towards a healthier community with both elite athletes and their grandparents whatever the case may be! Thank you Eugene Physical Therapy for redirecting my recovery from uncertain doldrums to self confidence & success.
