Eric Gardner, MD: Orthopedic Surgery

I want to express serious concerns regarding the care my mother received from Eric. My mother was never properly informed that she would not be going directly to physical therapy after her procedure. She had been told by multiple nurses in the office that she would go straight to therapy because of her age. It was only after I said goodbye and staff asked what time I would be picking her up that I mentioned she would be going to therapy. That is when I was informed that this was not how the process worked. This miscommunication is extremely troubling. My mother is nearly 70 years old and has previously suffered a severe stroke. The doctors here are so attentive and empathic and just overall the feel is one of caring - way different than OCR drs. My family has seen 3 or 4 drs with banner ortho for different specialties (we’ve had 2 surgeries - shoulder and hip with Dr Gardner) all the best care anyone could ask for. We don’t see anyone else for orthopedic needs.

I originally was with another orthopedic doctor. I had a horrible experience, so I needed a second opinion. I was then referred to Doctor Gardner and his PA Tyler Cardillo. They were both exceptional with me and my entire recovery. I had a double knee surgery. Before my surgery, I was always in pain, and felt like I would never get better. After my surgery, I feel like a new person! I have almost no pain in both knees!! (I'm getting better daily and had surgery a couple months ago so the only pain is the normal pain during healing) They were both very thorough with me about the procedures, and the surgery was complicated because of my injuries but Dr. Gardner did what needed to be done and I'm better than I have been in over a year and a half before I got injured. Worst experience ever. Total knee on July 7th, 2021, I have employer insurance blue cross/blue shield. July 8th, 2021 Dr. Gardner’s PA tells me that they busted my femur during the total knee. I required more physical therapy from Mid July until September 10th, 2021 at three times a week. Talked with supposedly Dr. Gardner’s nurse and was lied to that the stitches in my femur were dissolvable; my physical therapy removed the imbedded stitches during therapy! Never received any calls from Dr. Gardner or Banner health to follow up on how I was doing. Every phone call to Gardner went through a huge call center in AZ that was staffed by nonmedical staff. I had three surgeries with Dr. Gardner and two were not needed, per the doctor I got a second opinion from. He tried telling me I needed a total knee replacement at 16 years old. He was very unprofessional and when I went in to get papers for a second opinion we were told it was their third one they were giving out that day.
