Emily Silverman

This has been the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. I had been on the same thyroid medication for over 25 years without any issues. After I started seeing Dr. Silverman, my medication brand was changed. I didn’t connect the change to my symptoms at first, but over time I noticed significant hair loss. By the time I realized what was happening, I had lost a large amount of my hair. This has been extremely upsetting and difficult for me. I’m sharing my personal experience so others are aware. Based on what I went through, I personally would not feel comfortable returning to this doctor.

Dr. Emily Silverman-Okeke is board certified in both internal medicine and obesity medicine. Yet she herself is not on the healthy side. The lack of compassion, lack of listening skills because of her title, doesn’t matter what you tell her, she is the “doctor” and responds with an arrogant type of attitude, and seems disinterested or as if she hates her job. My mom is a patient of hers at the moment and I met her and disliked her mannerisms. She doesn’t care. Youre just another check from big pharma. My moms feet have been swollen retaining water as a Diabetic, as an Endocrinologist you would think she would care. My moms Cardiologist does more for my moms Diabetic symptoms than the Endocrinologist.

The office policy states that in order for me to get a letter with the names of medications Dr Silverman prescribed me, I HAVE TO COME IN AND SEE THE DOCTOR AND PAY THE COOPAY to get a simple letter regarding my medication. This is ssoooo wrong. They are just looking for more money.

I was referred to Dr. Silverman by my primary physician because of possible hormonal imbalance issues leading to excessive hair shedding. From the moment I arrived she was indifferent and emotionally detached. She made inappropriate comments about my age and suggested that I should seek counseling and discuss my self image issues with a psychologist so I could discover more important personal attributes than concern over going bald. She went on to say that there was probably no known cause for losing my hair and I should learn to accept it. I mentioned that in addition to hair loss I was experiencing unexplained weight loss and that my diet and exercise routine was unchanged. I added that I actually reduced my workouts and increased my eating and still was losing weight. She said I wa

She completely lacked grace, empathy which is not an obligation but her obvious lack of mere professionalism and beyond was duly noted. It was bizarre how as she spoke of how important diet is for obesity, pre diabetes and attempting to get husband on weight loss medication with a confident aire of superiority while she clearly presented as more obese herself and our age or younger. It seemed like she was projecting her self hatred or self struggles upon us and acting better than us whilst it was a first time experience with an endocrinologist. Husband as patient, wife as wife. Two stars for being timely and in the end when she mentioned self accountability and self reliance and admitting we did not have to see an endocrinologist in the first place.
