Emerald Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE. I am 20 years old, and my father was placed at this rehabilitation facility after suffering a stroke. What I witnessed during his stay was deeply upsetting and unacceptable. The level of unprofessionalism among the staff—particularly the nurses in the South Wing—was alarming. There was a consistent lack of accountability, poor communication, and behavior that showed little concern for patients or their families. On multiple occasions, nurses lied about when the doctor had visited or was scheduled to check on my father, seemingly to cover their own negligence rather than ensure proper care. As a family member advocating for a vulnerable patient, this was both frustrating and frightening. It is heartbreaking to see a Medicaid-funded facility so poorly

I realize that nursing homes have gotten a poor rap in the past. I have to tell you, my sister has been in Emerald for the last several months and she's been experiencing nothing but top care from the nursing staff, aids, doctors and administrative support staff that have been unbelievably superior and great. They really try to up their game and provide first quality care and are truly concerned about their patients. They are kind and considerate and respond to the patient's needs once made aware of their requirements.

I see they changed the name from Hillcrest since it was commonly referred to as Killcrest once you’ve had the misfortune of experiencing their level of care (lack of care) the filthy rooms, overburdened staff and sludge they call food. It’s supposed to be rehab so explain why when a patient says I don’t feel like doing my pt exercises today, they say ok and move on. This is not rehab, it’s end of life babysitting but your family doesn’t know that until it’s too late.

My Mom was sent to Emerald Nursing and Rehab. from St E. after a fall in June 2025. She was staying at the Rehab dept wing (400's Blue). This part has been remodeled and cleaned up. Rehab dept. is close by and In my experience, clean and lots of activities. I spoke to the Supervisor, LORI and Physical Therapist almost Daily. Very kind, Helpful and cared about my Moms progress. Unfortunately, My Mom needed to go to Long term care from there. She was admitted, smooth and well processed. SHOUT OUT to: Natasha and Marianela in the admitting office. Always kept me updated Daily and shown concern, kind and cared. Also LEO social worker kind, helpful and stayed in contact. Explained process. And for Meeting and working with them. Mom-broken leg 84yrs old. Dad,86yrs old, was asked to come in and speak to billing. Was told he needed to sign a form just incase mom needed to stay longer for Medicare. Turned out that it was a form to cancel Humana! Now we are stuck with large bill and NO secondary insurance! I am out of state and what they did was fraudulent. Dad went there and the lady said she was sorry! I need help fixing this. They do not have that type of Money!
