Elderwood at Burlington

My mother is in for PT and every time we go to see her the floor is absolutely disgusting. They lost her cellphone, her sweatshirts, her sewing equipment, her clothes- they’ve done nothing right and made no attempt to make things better. I’m disgusted by the attitude and audacity of these nurses who get snippy when we ask them for help. As people paying out of pocket we expect you to take at least MINIMAL DECENT CARE of our loved one. Not only have her belongings gone missing but they haven’t been keeping track of her swelling or oxygen usage correctly. I can say for absolute certainty that if I had someone who needed round the clock end of life care this would not even show up on my list as an option. I do not recommend this place and if you truly care about your loved one you will bring

After reading reviews, I was nervous for my loved one to go here, however we had limited options (none) so took a leap of faith. The staff are super responsive. I've been in many hospital settings and none have been so quick to answer a call bell. They have a policy that they never leave any lights unanswered, that means any staff member who is on the floor, if they see it, they check in. There's a whole care team who has been actively keeping me updated and working to meet the specific individual needs of the family member staying there. The meals have been satisfactory and they even provide alternative options if a certain daily menu option isn't appealing. I've visited several times and call every day. My family member has been a resident here for several years. The building and campus are beautiful, nurses are extremely professional, most of the caregiver's go above and beyond, cheerfully, and it's a very clean facility. That being said there are some concerns. There is an alarming trend of great staff joining Elderwood, and these same nurses, caregivers, etc, leaving. The turnover seems unusually high. This is worrisome to the residents and families. I cannot rely that the nurse (or unit nurse manager, or social worker....)who knows my loved one, their history, and my concerns, will be there the next time there is a care plan meeting or to answer a concern I have. I stayed at Elderwood from Nov 9th-Nov27th. To build up my physical strength after a hospital stay. I was very pleased with facility & care I received. Outstanding!! I was much improved upon discharge. ALL the staff were efficient and cheerful. I would like to mention a few names: Lani, Cat, Eddie, Shyree, Tee, my roommate Katherine & many, many others. I' ve been home for 2 weeks & am currently in hospital in San Diego that I broke & had a THR on after only 2 days in the city. The skills I learned at Elderwood will help with this recovery also.
