2 Days before colonoscopy they contacted me to reschedule due to an insurance issue -the insurance they had already approved and verified before scheduling the procedure in the first place. Prep for this starts 5 days before and I'd already purchased medicatioin and other supplies. I told them up front I had problems arranging transportatioin so it was the utmost importance to have this particular day. Also they wanted to move the appointment to North Durham vs Raleigh so that's not happening. You'd think something this important and due to an error on their end that they could keep the appointment and worry about the billing later. I had my misgivings about this organization -you should too!

I was patient back in 2008 to have my throat stretched. The doctor wasn't prepared to do the stretching without causing me a lot of pain. I had to stop him and reschedule another appointment so he could put me under so i wouldn't feel any pain that was very hurtful. I don't think he's done many throat stretching before. If he could have felt the pain i was having he would have been yelling stop please I'm having way to much pain. I hope this time they know what they are doing the first time.

Everyone at Duke is wonderful. I experienced a warm welcome from each and every part of the care team. Beginning at checking in to the team who cared for me. The attending provider addressed my concerns and made sure to answer all my questions . I knew I was in good hands being at Duke!

To the team today at Duke Gastroenterology of Raleigh, I want to start by saying what an absolutely AMAZING team this clinic has. The positivity, organization, and level of care I experienced here were unlike anything I’ve ever encountered at any healthcare facility. I was incredibly nervous about my colonoscopy and endoscopy today, but the staff made me feel completely at ease. From the front desk to the moment they walked me out, I truly felt I was in the best hands. I even teared up right before going under anesthesia—not just out of fear, but because of the overwhelming compassion and teamwork I witnessed. I am beyond grateful for every single person who played a role in my care, even those who weren’t directly assigned to me but still took the time to check in. Your kindness and ded

Dr. Robert Matthew Kappus, MD. is definitely a 5 Star, top notch, experienced, well educated and highly respected and highly referred physician who specializes in treating patients with all kinds of liver disease and other gastrointestinal issues! I’ve been living with Stage 4 Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis going on 7 1/2 years now and my numbers from my labs after all this time are still remaining near normal levels, like my: AST was 28 & my ALT 29 on my recent labs 3 months ago. My other liver lab levels were still near normal also. I have been purchasing and taking a daily regimen of the manufacturer recommended daily dosage of 3000 mg of Horbaach Brand Milk Thistle Extract since being diagnosed in 2018. I have yet to be added to the liver transplant waiting list but it has been discussed to
