Duane Reade Pharmacy

I want to preface that this took place the day before Thanksgiving and I work in a hospital, so I fully understand and anticipate the pharmacy to possibly be busier than usual. However, being kept on hold for 2hrs and to be seemingly transferred and taken off hold only to be placed back on hold numerous times throughout the wait is extremely concerning and frustrating. I was trying to call in for an urgent refill request for an elderly loved one. I was working from home, so I was hoping to call the pharmacy to make the request and then, to pick up the medication around 2:30pm. (Note: Rx was on hold, so I couldn't use the request a refill option, which I tried initially, but the automated machine said that the pharmacy team would need to reach out to the MD office. The nearby Rite Aid closed and my prescriptions got transferred here. To call this pharmacy unhelpful would be understating it, considering they have caused me to lapse on my prescriptions twice now. If you try to call in, expect to be on hold for at least 30 minutes listening to the same message repeat every ten seconds. Then when they automatically call you for refill (which feels like a miracle), it doesn’t go through (happened to me twice), and then you go in person and there’s a long line. As you wait in the long line, you have to listen to people requesting to get cabinets open every half minute since all the stuff is locked up. Unfortunately, 2 Rite Aid Pharmacies closed in my neighborhood. My husband and I now have to use this Duane Reade. My surgeon's office called for 3 days before getting someone on the phone. My dentist also called, left a message early on a Fri. No one returned his call. He called again, trying for more than an hour to get someone to answer the phone. The people in the store are nice but trying to get a prescription filled at this location is very difficult. If you need a prescription filled quickly, go elsewhere.

Received antibiotics prescription for dental infection. Told on Friday it would be filled later that day. Returned Saturday, was told the same thing. Today is the third day and I now have fever symptoms. It’s Sunday and dentist is closed now, as well as many urgent care centers are also closed. NEGLIGENT pharmacy practice. If you don’t have a prescription in stock, don’t lie to people.

Went in to get fiber supplement the other day and the staff was unhelpful. The pharmacist didn’ help me on why I needed the fiber supplement and getting no answers was extremely disappointing. At that point what is the difference from me talking to a bot. The bit would be more helpful honestly.
